Organisation Fields
Organisations are deliberately simple — a name, a description, and the relationships that build the hierarchy.
1. Description
-
What it’s for: A brief description of this organisational unit — what it does, its remit, and where it fits in the business.
-
What to include:
- Describe the unit’s primary function and responsibilities.
- Note where it sits in the broader organisational structure if that is not obvious from the name.
- Keep it concise — one or two sentences is sufficient.
-
Example:
"The Accounts Payable team is responsible for processing and approving supplier invoices and managing outgoing payments. Part of the Finance Division."
Relationships
| Relationship | What to link |
|---|---|
| Contains Business Role | The Business Roles that belong to this organisational unit — the roles held by people within this team or department |
| Contains Organisation | Sub-organisations within this one — use to build the organisational hierarchy (e.g., a Division contains Departments) |
