Image Block

The Image block lets you upload a photo, screenshot, or other image file and display it inline within a narrative. This is useful for annotated screenshots, wireframes, reference photos, or any visual that supports the written content.

Inserting an Image Block

  1. In the narrative editor, click where you want the image to appear.
  2. Type / to open the slash command menu.
  3. Type image (or photo, picture, upload, img) and select Image from the list.
  4. An empty Image block is inserted at that position.

Uploading an Image

Once the block is inserted, click the Upload button inside the block. Select an image file from your computer — common formats such as PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP are supported.

The image is uploaded to ArchRepo’s file storage and displayed inside the block. It is stored securely and served via a pre-signed URL.

Images are only uploadable when the narrative is in edit mode. In read-only mode the image is displayed as normal.

Replacing an Image

To replace an existing image, enter edit mode and click the upload area within the block to select a new file. The previous image is replaced.

Tips

  • Use images for annotated screenshots that illustrate how a system looks or behaves.
  • Keep image files reasonably sized — large images slow down page load for all readers.
  • For interactive or editable diagrams, use the Draw IO Block instead.
